This series describes my journey crossing Morocco, Egypt, Spain, and China. I combine these representative images and my experiences with traditional Spanish basket-weaving techniques. I was born in China and live in Spain, so it is not difficult for me. But the trip to Morocco and Egypt impressed me.
TRAVELING VASES I

It is inspired by Morocco’s expansive deserts, where the ever-changing sands erase traces, leaving visitors lost in a timeless realm. “Traveling Vases I” evokes a sense of being lost, like plants experiencing decay and potential renewal in winter.

It is inspired by several elements, such as traditional Spanish water container Botijo, traditional Iberian baskets’ texture, Chinese rattan baskets, and hemp baskets.

Inspired by peacocks. When I was a child, one day my grandma brought me to the local zoo. There are several peacocks in that area. The white one was my favorite on that day.

It resembled a genie’s lamp and featured yellow raffia mimicking gold and yarn-wrapped handles emulating various gemstones.
